My current body of work focuses on the exploration of my internal dialogues, fears and anxieties. The objects, the characters and the settings that populate my recent paintings are derived from my immediate surroundings. All of the visual elements employed have symbolic meanings. They are meant to represent or to evoke sentiments and memories I associate them with. I then reconstruct my reality, using these elements as building blocks, in order to better understand and cope with the overwhelming forces of my everyday existence.

Human bodies and faces have always played a vital role in my art. I am very interested in capturing the heightened emotional moment, be it the moment of confrontation, internal conflict or reverie. Even though, most of the images in my artwork are (at least partially) based on photographic sources, mirroring reality is not my primary goal. I use layers of paint to metaphorically disguise my vulnerabilities, while drawing a parallel between the overworked surfaces and the complexities of the human experience. By employing recognizable images, I aim to connect with the audience on the psychological, almost subconscious level. The viewer is then let into my world without jeopardizing the anonymity of my true emotions.
